1 Angry Black Man is the debut feature of writer/director Menelek Lumumba. The film is a collaboration between Lumumba and his creative partner Hans Charles, one of the producers of the film. Charles is known as the cinematographer of 13th, Wu-tang Clan: Of Mics and Men, and Mr. Soul! The film takes place on an idyllic New England liberal arts college campus.
